Microneedling for Healthier, Smoother, More Radiant Skin

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a minimally invasive treatment that uses a device such as the Dermapen to create controlled microchannels in the skin. These micro-injuries activate the skin’s natural repair process, stimulating collagen and elastin production. This process stimulates skin remodeling while maintaining the integrity of the skin’s surface. It also enhances the absorption of active ingredients, contributing to improvements in skin texture, firmness, and overall skin quality over time.

The benefits of Microneedling can be accelerated for specific skin conditions by including enhanced serums, peels, and exosomes in your treatment. These serums paired with microneedling enhance the absorption, increasing the ingredients effectiveness.

What to Expect

Consultation

Before your microneedling treatment, a consultation is required to discuss your skin concerns, treatment goals, and determine whether microneedling is the right option for you. During your consultation, we will complete a comprehensive skin assessment and perform a VISIA® skin analysis. This advanced scan provides an accurate baseline of your skin's condition, allowing us to create a personalized treatment plan and objectively track your progress and results throughout your treatment journey.

Treatment Process

Your appointment begins with a thorough cleanse of the skin to remove any makeup, oil, and impurities. Once your skin is prepared, the microneedling device is carefully passed over the treatment area, creating thousands of controlled micro-channels that stimulate your body's natural healing response and collagen production. A medical-grade soothing mask is then applied to soothe the skin and enhance the healing process. The treatment is finished off with a hydrating vitamin rich moisturizer and sunscreen. The treatment typically takes 45–60 minutes, depending on the area being treated.

Downtime

Microneedling requires minimal downtime. Immediately following treatment, your skin will appear red and may feel warm or tight, similar to a mild sunburn. Some patients also experience slight swelling, sensitivity, or dryness for the first 24–72 hours. Most people feel comfortable returning to their normal daily activities the following day, although strenuous exercise, excessive heat, swimming, and active skincare products should be avoided for the first 24–48 hours.

Healing Timeline

Day 1: Redness, warmth, and mild sensitivity are common.

Days 2–3: Redness gradually subsides. Your skin may feel dry, tight, or begin to lightly flake as it heals.

Days 4–7: The skin continues to recover, appearing smoother, brighter, and more hydrated.

Weeks 2–6: Collagen and elastin production continue beneath the surface, leading to ongoing improvements in skin texture, tone, and firmness.

When Results Are Visible

Many patients notice an improvement in their skin's radiance and texture within the first week. However, because collagen remodeling is a gradual process, more significant improvements typically become noticeable 4–6 weeks after treatment and continue to develop over the following months.

Recommended Number of Treatments

While many patients benefit from a single treatment, the best results are typically achieved with a series of treatments. For general skin rejuvenation, we usually recommend a course of 3–4 treatments spaced approximately 4–6 weeks apart. Concerns such as acne scarring, deeper wrinkles, stretch marks, or pigmentation may require 4–6 or more treatments to achieve optimal results. During your consultation, we will create a customized treatment plan based on your individual skin goals.

Frequently asked questions

What Makes Professional Microneedling Treatments More Effective?

Professional microneedling treatments are designed to deliver consistent, controlled results through advanced device technology, precise depth settings, and clinically developed protocols. When performed by trained providers, treatments can be tailored to specific skin concerns and enhanced with professional-grade skincare. This level of precision and integration supports more predictable outcomes and a higher standard of care compared to non-professional approaches which may cause further damage to the skin.

What are the benefits of Microneedling?

Microneedling supports progressive improvements in overall skin quality by stimulating collagen and elastin production. Over time, this process helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, improve skin texture and tone, minimize the visibility of acne scars and pigmentation, and enhance firmness. Results are cumulative, with continued treatments leading to more noticeable and long-term improvements.

How does Microneedling Work?

Microneedling works by creating precise, controlled micro-injuries in the skin. This triggers a natural healing response that promotes collagen synthesis and skin regeneration, while also enhancing the absorption of professional-grade active ingredients used during treatment.

Does microneedling hurt?

Those who have experienced micro needling before with other devices, likely did so with numbing cream. We recommend completing the procedure without numbing cream as this may limit some of the benefits. The technology behind the Dermapen means most clients can tolerate the procedure without anesthetic. However, we will happily provide it for anyone who does not find the procedure tolerable without.

Is Microneedling safe?

When performed by a trained professional using clinically validated devices and protocols, microneedling is considered safe for a wide range of skin types. Safety is dependent on proper technique, sterile conditions, and appropriate post-care. At Still Point your safety is our highest priority, our trained providers will ensure your treatment is performed using proper technique, sterility, and that you are educated on proper post-care.

How long does it take to see results from Microneedling?

Some improvements may be visible within a few days, particularly in skin texture and radiance. However, more significant results—such as collagen remodeling—develop progressively over several weeks and multiple treatments.

How many treatments will I need?

Depending on the condition and treatment goal, we recommend 3-4 sessions over a 4 month period. For certain skin concerns more sessions may be recommended. Many clients determine to continue with a maintenance session every 3-4 months to better maintain the results and benefits.

What is the downtime?

A bit of redness, similar to a light sunburn, is normal for about 24-48 hours. Certain activities (such as sun exposure or heavy exercise) and certain skincare should be avoided during this time. Home Kits are available to maximize results and minimize any poor ingredient interactions.

Can it be combined with other treatments?

Yes! Many of the treatments we offer at Still Point can be added to complement your microneedling treatment the same day, enhancements may also be added during your treatment to improve results. Other treatments can be added as part of a more comprehensive plan and performed 2-4 weeks later to maximize your results. The best options for your specific needs will be discussed in detail at your consultation.
